This past week I was digging around for stock film footage showing the Alley and found this (brief) gem from sometime in the 1960s. I especially like the emphasis that the houses “are not restorations; they have been in continuous use as residences since Colonial times.” While that last bit is something of a stretch (many of the homes on the Alley were built after the American Revolution), I appreciate this framing of why the street is special!
