***UPDATE: As Google StreetView is updated periodically, some of these items may no longer be visible! You can toggle StreetView back in time to November 2019 and they should all be there!***
At the moment, it feels like we are all grasping for some sense of normality, and in the first days working from home, I turned to the familiar sights of Elfreth’s Alley through the old familiar magic of Google StreetView. There was the street I used to walk down nearly every day, there the historical flags and the 18th-century homes. At the same time, I was trying to figure out how to share our museum with the world when our museum needed to stay shut and the world, for the most part, needed to stay home.
I took to Instagram, and began posting prompts for a Google StreetView scavenger hunt. You can see my Instagram story from that week here, but here’s the full list of things to find:
15 Fire Marks (there are more)
8 busybodies
The Grand Union Flag
Flag of the First Pennsylvania Rifles
4 boot scrapers
George Washington’s tent flag
Fort Mifflin Flag
Ben Franklin’s Face
4 wreaths
6 Pent eaves
“Bladen’s Court”
Stained Glass Books
Flemish bond
The Lion Rampant of Scotland
2 odd bollards
This link will set you down at the top of the street. There are a few hints on our Instagram Highlights. Happy scavenger hunting and stop by on social media to let us know if you need help with any of the targets!
