Join local author and historian Josh Hitchens for The Alley Book Club, meeting every two months to read and discuss works that shine a light on Philadelphia history. On April 27, we will be featuring The Diary of Elizabeth Drinker. Elizabeth Sandwith Drinker was a Quaker woman who lived near Elfreth's Alley and kept a detailed diary from 1758-1807. It is one of the most complete records of a woman's life in 18th century Philadelphia history.
