Celebrate National Poetry Month with us at Elfreth’s Alley’s very first First Friday event of the year!

Poetry on the Alley is the perfect way to kick off the season and enjoy an unforgettable evening in one of Philadelphia's most historic spots. On April 4th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, join us at the Elfreth’s Alley Museum for a fun, creative, and vibrant evening in the heart of Old City as we bring poetry to life.

The event is FREE to attend!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Hear poetry performances from local poets

  • Try your hand at writing your own poem on a vintage typewriter—express yourself in a unique and fun way.

  • Take home a one-of-a-kind typewritten poem created live on-site

  • Sip on free wine and enjoy tasty snacks while you relax and soak in the creative energy in the cozy backyard of the museum at 126 Elfreth's Alley.

Whether you're a poetry lover or just looking for a fun way to spend your Friday evening, this event has something for everyone. It's a unique opportunity to connect with local artists, explore the historic charm of Elfreth’s Alley, and be part of a community celebrating the written word in a creative, relaxed setting.

Plus, every donation or purchase made during the event supports the Elfreth’s Alley non-profit, which helps maintain this iconic, centuries-old alley for future generations to enjoy. It’s a win-win.
